Chapter Elections for 2011 Board Positions

The PMI Tucson chapter is growing.  We grew by 15% in 2009, and by 8% more through September of this year.  By contrast, the whole of PMI Region 7, which Tucson belongs to, shrank by 2% during the same 21-month period.  Be a part of growing the Tucson chapter further during 2011, by serving as either a volunteer or a board member.

- Volunteers

Volunteers are not elected positions, but are needed to help run all aspects of chapter operations. In 2011 we plan to arrange volunteers into teams, with a specific focus. Please contact me if you have even 1 hour a month to assist one of the teams. A list of current volunteers is here.  (Also let me know if you're on the list but no longer available for 2011.)

- Board Members

We are currently updating our chapter bylaws.  (You can read more about how and why here.)  As part of the update we are transitioning to six elected positions, and staggered terms starting 1st January 2011 (instead of electing a new board every year).

Chapter President, VP Administration, VP Finance will be elected for a 1 year term, while VP Programs, VP Communications, VP Membership will be elected for a 2 year term.  A brief outline of position descriptions is here.

Board members must be chapter members, and able to dedicate a few hours each month to working on chapter business.  Generally the board meets (virtually) as a group once a month.

Aside from being a part of growing the profession of project management in the region, Board members can claim service PDUs, get discounts on chapter events, access free leadership training (at the PMI Learn website, with 40 Harvard leadership e-learning courses, over 20 custom PMI leadership courses), and participate in regional and national leadership events.

Please contact either Kevin Archbold or Sami Hall today to learn more about being a part of the board for 2011 - elections will be taking place soon.

Bylaws Update

Thank you to everyone who's voted so far as part of the chapter bylaw update process.  If you're an official PMI Tucson chapter member and you haven't yet voted, you can still  read about the update here and then vote.
